The bursary supports studies in key disciplines related to mining and industrial operations, including:
- Geology
- Geophysics
- Mining Engineering
- Marine Engineering
- Metallurgy
- Crewing
- Environmental Management
- Nautical Sciences
- Engineering
- Mine Supply Chain and other mining-related disciplines
These fields play an important role in the sustainability and development of the mining industry.
What the Bursary Covers
Successful applicants will receive financial support that includes:

- Accommodation
- Food allowance
- Travel costs

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Trans Hex Bursary Programme, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen or resident
- Be studying or planning to study in one of the listed fields
Preference will be given to students from:
- Doringbaai
- Ebenhaeser
- Lutzville
- Lamberts Bay
- Vredendal
- Other nearby towns in the region

- Certified copy of South African ID
- Academic transcripts
- Proof of financial need (household income)
